Forge Pond

Crazy that we've lived within walking distance to Forge Pond for 14 years, and have never ventured out there when it's frozen until today.  (I sort of take that back.  The kids went out there one winter with a former babysitter who lives on the pond, but it was so long ago that I don't think they really remember.)  It's been cold, but not much snow, so the conditions were perfect for skating.  Too bad we don't own any skates!  LOL!

 

Groton Town Forest

Sean & Aiden wanted to take us to a place where they like to mountain bike when there's no snow cover.  Love our weekly explorations.

 

6th Grade Ski Club

There's not really a ski club this year, but we seem to be starting our own! Bree is on the left.

Finally got some snow!  Kids tried out the snowshoes that they got from Grammy & Grampy for Christmas in the backyard.

Gamlin Esker Trail - Groton

Continued our streak of exploring new trails today.  We think this area of Groton was affected by the tornadoes / microbursts that happened a few years back.  The number of downed trees that we saw was truly astonishing.

Sean and the kids have today off for MLK.  We explored another new trail, real close to home in Littleton.

I love this little lake. The beach you see at the far end is where I practiced beach yoga last summer.  Motorized boats are prohibited on this lake.  It's so lovely and serene.

Winter Hiking At Great Book Farm State Park

We usually only come here in the warmer month to walk around and get ice cream, but there's a ton of wonderful trails to explore all year around.  I think we'll be coming back before too long.  Maybe with our new snow shoes, if it ever snows again....

New Years Day Hike

Starting the New Year off right with a couple new hikes in Groton this afternoon.

This hike was part of the Groton Winter Tree Stroll, hence the decorated trees.
