Taekwondo - New Normal

Master Hwang has re-opened the dojang.  8 kids maximum per class, socially distanced, masks required (he even provided each student with a new mask -- made by his family in Korea, according to Aiden & Bree), and much sanitizing.  Hands and feet must be washed before entering the building.  Parents may not enter the building.  So here we wait.  Outside.  Seeking shade.  The kids are in separate classes, so we'll be spending a lot of time out here on the lawn in the months to come.  I'm grateful that the kids can practice in person once again -- at least for the time being.

Last Day of School

A rather anti-climatic day for the 6th grader in terms of wrapping up his first year of middle school.  Some of the teachers held goodbye meetings on Google Meet yesterday (while others forgot to log-in.....).  Today there was a wave parade at Blanchard,  but Aiden chose not to go.  Just as well, since it was the same time as Bree's wave parade.  We celebrated outside with the neighborhood kids -- socially distanced, and with a BYO frozen treat.

Our rising 6th and 7th graders.

One Last Goodbye

Best principal ever!  We'll miss you, Ms. Kennelly!

Crisafulli "Wave Parade"

Not exactly the goodbye to Crisafulli School that we had imagined, but it was nice to see so many teachers and administrators, just the same.  💙

Thank you, Mrs. Parker, for making 5th grade remote learning the best it could be.

I think this one was taken right before we pulled over and both burst into tears....

Kimball's - Offsite

Kimball's is open for the season, but it's a little (okay a lot) different this year.  We were under the impression that the ice cream could only be taken to-go, but we were surprised to see upon our arrival that you can now eat your ice cream on-premise again.  We may have stuck around, if not for the fact that there was an extended family with several kids running around freely without masks (some of the adults included).  As a result, we opted to consume our treat at Crisafulli School.  Truthfully, we were hoping to kill two birds with one stone, and have Bree's photo taken with the 2020 5th grade banner -- but alas, the banner was not hanging outside the building when we arrived today.  Will try again tomorrow.....

5th Grade Play

The 5th grade play didn't exactly get cancelled due to COVID-19, thanks to one very ambitious mom who arranged for a surprise virtual performance of this year's play - -The Reluctant Dragon.  Many of the cast, including my own "Guru Girl", filmed their lines and sent them to Mrs. Sanchez to compile into  arguably the most interesting 5th grade play in the history of Crisafulli School.  Bravo to all the kids who participated in this special performance!

First Dinner Out

Governor Baker allowed restaurants to open outdoor dining this week.  We were all very excited for our first dinner out in over 3 months.  We had to wear masks when transitioning from our car to the the patio (and back again).  Our table reservation was limited to an hour and a half, which worked out great since we didn't need to go inside to use the restrooms while we were there.  All in all, it was a great experience.  We can't wait to go back!
