Franconia Notch

Packed a lot into our Saturday in the White Mountains.  We have to head home first thing in the morning, so we really tried to make the most of our time here.  First stop was the breathtaking Flume Gorge.

The kids (and Sean) climbed through this scary cave.  I chickened out, and went around.  Dark, cramped spaces are not my style.

After we left the Flume Gorge, we did a less touristy hike up to Artists Bluff for lunch.

From the top of Artists Bluff, we could see a nearby gondola.  And since we still had time to spare after our hike, we thought "why not!"  If we come back this way in the future, perhaps we will hike the Rim Trail, instead of cheating our way to the top.  :-)

Busy day deserves ice cream!

One last quick stop before we headed back to camp.  This is where the Old Man in the Mountain once was.  Today, there's a park at the base of the mountain with these cool silhouette poles that can show you what it used to look like if you stand in exactly the right spot.  It's pretty neat!

Roasting snowmen hot cocoa toppers, since hot cocoa season is over.  ⛄😅

That was a fun (but short) weekend!  Can't wait to return to the White Mountains!
